Lions Square
The Lions Square (Πλατεία Λιονταριών) in Heraklion is home to the Morožini Fountain, an impressive Venetian fountain adorned with four lion statues. Water flows from their mouths, creating a striking and iconic image.
Located in Eleftherios Venizelos Square at the heart of Heraklion, the fountain was originally built to address the city's water supply issues. In fact, it provided the citizens with 1,000 barrels of water daily when it was first constructed.
